Perfect Practice....
I am inspired by jazz and practice improvisation; But before that, I think it’s important to practice classically in order to develop the sound, control and ease of a good classical trumpet player. In jazz we get so enamored with the content, we can forget or neglect the means of delivery. Incorporating classical practice techniques and standards into our regular practice routine gives us the flexibility and control to play what we’re hearing. If I can help you on your journey as an evolving trumpet player, click the button below to contact me. We’ll develop a plan to help you take it to the next level.

Improvisation
Improvisation is at the core of jazz. It’s an important skill to have not only because it can save you when things change unexpectedly. It’s also the most fun! If you watch children on a playground, no one needs to tell them how to play. They all play in their own way constantly adjusting to what’s happening around them; always expressing in their own authentic way. That’s what we do when we improvise in music. We play what we want based on the way we feel in relationship to the context. Some people swing on monkey bars, some do tricks, others walk across the top or even roost up there like they’re “king of the hill.” Think about it… when you improvise, you get to play what you want, the way you want... Who wouldn’t want to do that?!
I’m committed to taking away the mental obstacles that keep good musicians locked in the prison of their musical minds. It’s easier than you think if you open your mind and use some simple proven tools. You’ll hear more and have more confidence. These tools really work. Let me know if I can help with your jailbreak!
